The Queen's Birthday 2009 (24/03/2009)
Each year the British Embassy organises a party at the official residence of the Embassy to celebrate the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth popularly known as the QBP.
The British community in Costa Rica and the Embassy with the support of an increasing number of friends and sponsors, use the event to raise money for Costa Rican schools in need. Last year's raised about $ 22,700 for this purpose.
This year's fair will be held on Saturday 25 April from 9:00 am at 3:00 p.m.
The event attracts thousands of visitors who enjoy British food and drinks, theatrical presentations, music, dancing and games for all ages. It is a wonderful day to share with the whole family.
This year's goal is to assist schools in areas near the Poas volcano which were devastated by the earthquake and to exceed the amount raised last year.
The theme this year is the "Swinging Sixties" and everyone is invited to dress in this style, prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. Below is a map that shows the location of the event and the location of parking areas.
If you wish to contribute financially, please contact the Sponsorship Coordinator: Mike Hudson (tel 2211-1509, cel. 8343-6390) and Luisa Pastor (tel. 2258-2025) here at the Embassy.
We look forward to seeing you at the QBP and help us support this important cause.
