Access to Embassy in San Jose for Disabled People
Access for the disabled to this Embassy
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office and this Embassy are keen to ensure that their buildings and services are fully accessible to disabled members of the public. Wherever possible, we have made our buildings and services accessible. Sometimes however, this is not possible due to security or other restrictions. In these situations we will endeavour to provide a service or access to a building in an alternative way to ensure equality of access for disabled people. To assist disabled visitors, we have set out below details of disabled access at this Embassy. We hope this information is helpful.
General physical access to the Embassy
Access for the disabled to the Embassy and offices is possible, although wheelchairs will require careful maneuvering through some narrow doorways
- There are access ramps in the basement (next to the lifts), and on the northern and southeastern entrances
- Lifts are available to all floors with accessibility for wheelchair-users
- The lift marked ”C” should be used for assisting disabled visitors during an emergency/evacuation
- The Embassy has one toilet which has been modified for disabled users
- Embassy floors are generally even and should not present particular difficulties for disabled visitors
- There is good lighting throughout the Embassy
- There is no Braille signage in the building; however, guide dogs are welcome and we would happily provide an escort from the reception if required
