Depeche Mode help British Embassy assistance for Poas earthquake relief (14/10/2009)
On 8 October 2009, legendary British band Depeche Mode performed in San José to around 15,000 fans as part of their '
Tour of the Universe'.
Their visit provoked huge press interest and excitement among Costa Rican fans.Deputy Head of Mission Scott Simpson and UKTI Officer Luisa Pastor attended the show.
After being informed of the Embassy's efforts to help the British community to raise $50,000 to reconstruct schools affected by the earthquake in Poas in January 2009, the band kindly donated a number of autographed tour memorabilia to be auctioned off (
including T-shirts and tour programmes). T
