MP Peter Kilfoyle visits Nicaragua (23/09/2009)
Between 5 and 12 September British MP Peter Kilfoyle was in Nicaragua representing the Labour Party with the aim of strenghtening ties between the Labour Party and the FSLN.
Mr Kilfoyle met officials from various branches of the FSLN including Women´s and Youth groups as well as FSLN members of the National Assembly. Mr. Kilfoyle made a trip to the Caribbean coast city of Bluefields and is currently assisting with a shipment of donated school materials from the UK to this city.
This trip was Mr. Kilfoyle's third to Nicaragua, the last trip was in 2007 when he walked across a large part of the country to raise funds for the British Heart Fund and the British NGO Peace and Hope Trust Nicaragua.
On 8 September in Managua the benefit DVD Dignity For All (financed by Mr Kilfoyle) was released in an event at La Terraza restaurant in Managua where Bruce Callow of the British Embassy performed. Procedes from this DVD are being used to help improve conditions for juvenile and women prisoners in Nicaragua.
